One of the biggest for me is separating my business life from my personal life. It may not seem like a big deal, but failure to do so results in unneeded stress & bad mental health. In this blog post I'll be sharing some tips on separating your business life from your work life. Does this means I've perfected the art of separation? Absolutely not! I'm still human, and I'm still a super dedicated business owner. But I can say I've cut down on a lot of the stress!

Tip 1: Operate during normal business hours. I try to ONLY inbox, email, text, call, etc. clients during normal business hours. (9-5ish is what I use.) That way, I'm not interrupting me time, friends time, family time, relationship time, etc. to do work related things.

Tip 2: I do absolutely no client contact on Sundays. The only time I do is if I have a session the next day & I need to go over final details. Sunday is my day of Sabbath, if you will. I do minimal work. I plan my social media posts for the week, and that's all.

Tip 3: No editing or working on anything business related late hours. This is by far THE HARDEST for me to abide. If I know I have something to do, and I'm not doing anything at that particular moment, I'll start working. This is okay, but if you're like me, getting your brain to turn off when it's time to sleep is an IMPOSSIBLE task when you work right up to bedtime. There's always way too many ideas swirling around. I recommend stopping all business work at least an hour before you want to go to sleep in order to give your brain time to wind down.

Tip 4: Lastly, NEVER let your business get in the way of living. If you're invited to go out with friends & family...DO IT! Your business work will still be there when you get home. OF course, it's still important to prioritize your business, but the quickest way to get burnt out is to not get out and live! So shut down your computer & go have some fun! You'll find yourself so renewed afterwards.

I hope these tips helped you! Balancing personal life & business life is a struggle for so many & is definitely one of the factors that determine the success & lifespan of your business. Prioritizing balance is a key is business ownership!!!

With love,
